La Farouche

Bastide La Farouche was built in 2007 under the supervision of a Dutch decorator, who ensured that the overall appearance meets a restored old manor house (Bastide) with the characteristics of then and the comfort of now. Many have been mistaken in thinking that this is an old Bastide that has recently been restored.

The Bastide has a total area of 570 m2, 400 m2 of which can be considered habitable. The garden around the Bastide is 30% landscaped, and the rest consists of a well maintained olive grove. Around the house you can enjoy a number of pleasant terraces, both in the sun and in the shade, be it either in the beautifully landscaped garden, or around the personally designed pool after a refreshing dip.

Swimming Pool & Garden

The swimming pool was designed by the decorator and the work carried out by a renowned swimming pool construction company. The heated free form swimming pool measuring 14 x 7m is equipped with a so-called plage (beach effect) and beautiful rockery with a waterfall. The waterfall and all the lighting in and around swimming pool are controlled by remote control. The pool is built in such a way that it is fully integrated into the garden and looks like a large pond in winter. Next to the swimming pool is a wonderful guest accommodation of 42 m2, equipped with all high-quality sanitary facilities. Again, beautiful handmade terracotta floors, old beams and impressive romantic wrought iron doors have been used.

Bastide atmosphere

The Bastide is built with original authentic materials as well as new building materials, recovered terracotta tiles have been used in the kitchen. This has an area of 25 m2, the living room 48 m2, the dining area 34 m2 and the breakfast kitchen 24 m2. Via the beautiful robust antique front door (from 1600) you enter in to the hall, where stylish old cement tiles have been used. All hardwood frames, windows and doors, are equipped with double glazing, meet the highest standards and are finished with an ecru-coloured patina. In the living room and dining area you will find antique fireplaces, old beamed ceilings and handmade terracotta tile floors with underfloor heating.

Spacious layout

On the ground floor there is a toilet, a laundry room, a room where you will find all to do with electricity and telephony, a generous double dressing room, a 15 m2 storage room and a 25 m2 wine cellar.

On the first floor a master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom, with a total area of no less than 110 m2. Here beautiful stained wooden floors have been used. There is a wing with 2 bedrooms, both measuring 25 m2, and a bathroom.

Next to the house are a garage, a carport and an Orangery tiled with old cement tiles from Marseilles and equipped with an outdoor kitchen.

Location and surroundings

The house is ideally situated to practise a wide range of activities such as kayaking in the Argens (15 min), cycling/mountain biking and walking through the nearby vineyards. You can play golf (3 golf courses in the area), tennis and horse riding. About 15 minutes away you will find the natural beauty of the Gorges du Verdon, ideal for mountaineering, mountain biking, canoeing, pedal boats etc. Beach and sea can be reached within 60 minutes.
